ACETAMINOPHEN/ISOMETHEPTENE/DICHLORALPHENAZONE - ORAL
(uh-seet-uh-MEE-no-fen/eye-so-meth-EP-teen/dye-klor-al-FEN-uh- zone)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Amidrine, Atarin, Isocom, Midchlor, Midrin
USES: This medicaiton is used to relieve migraine and tension headaches.
HOW TO USE: Take this mediaction exactly as prescribed. Do not increase your dose or take this more often than driected. For migraine headaches, take two capsules at the first sign of an attack.
Then take one capsule every hour as needed until the headache is relieved. Do not take more than 5 capsuels in a 12 hour period. In tension headaches, usually no more than 8 capsules a day are recommended. Do not exceed the maxiumm dose prescribed.
This medication contains acetaminophen.
Do not take more acetaminophen than recommenedd (see Side Effects section).
SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness may occur as your body adjusts to the medicatoin. If this effect continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. If you do not have liver problems, the adult maximum dose of acetaminophen is 4 grams per day (4000 milligrams). If you take more than the maximum daily amount, it may casue serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms of liver damage: sevree nausea, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, extreme fatigue. An allergic reaciton to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effetcs not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: heart disease, glaucoma, kidney disease, lvier disease, high blood pressure, allergies (especially drug allergies). This product contains acetaminophen. Acetaminophen may cause liver damage. Daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with acetaminophen, may increase your risk for liver damage. Check with your doctor or pharmacist for more information. This medicatoin should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
Dicsuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
Since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your dotcor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take or have yseterday taken, including: antidepressants, MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Acetaminophen is an ingredient in many nonprescription products and in combiantion prescription medications.
Read the laebls carefully before taking other pain relievers, fever reducers, or cold products to see if they also contain acetaminophen.
Consult your pharmacist if you are uncertain if your other prescription or nonprescription products contain acetaminopehn. (Also see maixmum daily dose information in Side Effects section).
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or phramacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local pioson control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe nausea, vomiting, yellowing eyes or skin, stomach pain, dark urine, extreme fatigue, headache, agitation, low body temperature, rapid and shallow breathing, unusually rapid or slow heartbeat, and unresponsiveness.
NOTES: Use caution wihle driving or doing tasks requiring alertness as this medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Notify your docotr if this medication fails to relieve your headaches.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usaul dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
